Our services include but are not restricted to: Livestock health is one of Fluid Dynamic Aquariums most avid concerns. With the time and care we put into every animal and plant we sell, it is very important to us that they arrive at their destination alive and undamaged. This is why we do everything we can to insure a fast and seamless delivery every time you order. Due to our attention to detail there are only two methods of shipping we use for our livestock: UPS Priority Overnight and Southwest Airlines Cargo. Please note that we ship via UPS to all US states, except for Hawaii which does not allow importation of most of the livestock we sell. We do not ship to Guam, Puerto Rico, any other US territories, or internationally. Additionally, with Southwest Airlines Cargo we only ship along the Western Coast. All non frozen dry goods orders are shipped via UPS Ground. All current service customers get free delivery for any purchase on your next service appointment. Just select the Walk in shipping option at time of check out. We will either require you to schedule a service or a minimum order value. In order to be considered for our Survive 30 Days Guarantee, we will have to perform a full water panel which costs $10.00.

Order Preparation and Packing

We take a great deal of care preparing our livestock for shipping. Every animal and plant is carefully inspected for health before it is released. First we choose an appropriately sized cooler to prevent the bags from rolling around. Every item is double- and sometimes even tripled-bagged to prevent bag punctures and water loss. We never skimp on the water to avoid shipping weight. This is a dangerous practice which often leads to the livestock being damaged or killed. Any necessary heat or cold packs are then attached to the underside of the container lid, to help maintain the correct temperature for your livestock during transit. Delicate corals are often attached to styrofoam and floated upside down to prevent damage in transit. Finally the cooler and the box are sealed completely with tape. To counteract the additional costs of this level of attention to detail in shipping we require a $10 boxing fee on all livestock orders. This is a one-time charge per order meaning you will not be charged a fee for any additional boxes.

Shipping Rates and Options

To ensure fast delivery and reduced shipping stress on your livestock we use UPS Priority Overnight. This costs us more than standard overnight service, but delivery of your shipment is guaranteed by 10:30AM instead of 6:00PM. For those of you on the West Coast near an airport that has Southwest Airlines service we do provide delivery through them. The boxes ship "care on delivery" (COD) which means that you will pay the shipping fee when you pick the box up at the air cargo pick-up. It is not always cheaper but it is very fast. To select this option choose walk in at time of check out and make a note of your airport and your desire to have it sent this way.

FREE Priority Overnight Shipping on all orders over $250!

As long as your order totals at least $250 after any coupons or discounts and before any miscellaneous charges such as the box charge, tax, etc. shipping will be free. Priority Overnight shipping is extremely expensive, so we highly recommend that you meet the minimum order of $250 to get the free shipping. Once your order has shipped, you'll receive an email confirmation with information about the delivery of your shipment, and a tracking number so you can track your shipment. If you are unable to receive shipments on Wednesday please contact us by phone (408-465-9055) or e-mail to negotiate a better shipping date. All dry goods shipments are sent within 1-5 business days. Hold for Pickup" at UPS

We highly recommend that you pickup your shipment at your local UPS Customer Center, rather than have it delivered to your home or business. They will keep the package inside where it isn't too hot or too cold. This greatly reduces stress on your livestock from temperature variations and rough handling. This is not required as we realize it may not be practical or possible. This is just our suggestion for the benefit of you and your livestock. If picking up at UPS please note that you may only have your package(s) held for pickup at official UPS Customer Centers (not UPS Stores or any other "authorized shipping outlets".) If you want your package(s) held for pickup, just use the comments box during the checkout process to let us know and provide the address of your preferred pickup facility.

Southwest Airlines Cargo Delivery

Available for larger orders of 1 or more full size boxes, only a viable option for those who live near an airport with Southwest Airlines service. The shipment will be COD but you can research what it will calculate out to online here. You can roughly estimate that a full box will often weigh 25-35lbs. To select this option choose walk in at time of check out and make a note of your airport and your desire to have it sent this way.

Home Delivery Suggestions

If picking up your shipment at UPS is not an option, we have a few suggestions for you to help reduce stress on your livestock and help ensure that everything arrives alive and healthy ... The best thing you can do is make sure you or someone else is there to receive your shipment and begin acclimating your new livestock as soon as your shipment arrives. Shipments will generally be delivered by 10:30 in the morning. If you or someone else can be there as opposed to your new livestock sitting outside until 5 or 6pm when you get home from work, they'll be that much happier and healthier. Secondly, please keep temperature and weather in mind when placing your orders - especially if you're not able to pick up your shipment at UPS - and schedule your orders accordingly. Regardless of how well we pack your livestock, it is extremely stressful to them if they have to sit outside your front door for 5 or 6 hours in 30 or 100 degree temperatures. Likewise, if it's supposed to snow on the day your order is scheduled to arrive you should seriously consider scheduling your order to arrive on another day. Shipments are often delayed during times of extreme weather, and UPS will NOT reimburse us or you for weather delays.

Adding to an Order

Please note that you can add to your order up until the day it ships. If you want to add to an existing order, simply place a new order and in the comments box on the order form just let us know you are adding to a prior order. If there is room in the box or it brings you over the $250 threshold.it will save you on shipping. Make a note of the desire to combine orders and we will calculate any needed reimbursement.
